the day the sun tempted the trunk to branch

we strolled the harbor to remember

our way back home.

meticulous witnessing. or so we thought.

a reconnaissance of questions. wishing our

sharing had arms.

try as we might to sink our ships nature

boomerangs back. accidentally we

rediscover what’s humane.

who knew our hearts turn the same way

the world’s does. counterclockwise. a new-

ness in the marrow.

we build with weeks our memories un-

folding & are left not with the building

only scaffolding.
